Yoga Cards For Kids: Mindful Moves On A Magic Mat
Greetings and Namaste!
I’m George Watts (that’s me over there in doodle form), a BWY Yoga teacher and the creator of the Online Yoga Lesson Planner.
I’ve been teaching yoga since 2010.
I created these cards to use during my one-to-one sessions with mother and child. They made teaching much easier, and the mothers and children enjoyed playing with them.
14 Reasons To Get My Kids Yoga Alphabet Card Deck
Reason 1.
Artistically Crafted
Designed by a yoga teaching artist (George Watts), ensuring anatomical accuracy and ease of understanding.
Reason 2.
Variety and Engagement
With 26 different poses, A to Z yoga cards provide a wide variety of movements, keeping children engaged and excited about their yoga practice. The diverse poses cater to different interests and preferences.
Reason 3.
Versatile Appeal
The cards appeal to a diverse range of individuals and professionals involved in the well-being and education of children. Parents and grandparents seeking interactive and health-promoting activities for their kids or grandchildren can use these cards as a bonding and wellness tool.
Physical Education (PE) teachers and elementary school teachers may use the cards in their curriculum, fostering flexibility and mindfulness in a fun way.
Childcare providers, yoga instructors, occupational therapists, and counsellors working with children can all find value in these cards for promoting physical and mental well-being.
Additionally, school wellness coordinators, homeschooling parents, and after-school program coordinators can integrate the cards to encourage overall wellness in various settings.
The versatility of these cards makes them a valuable resource for anyone involved in the care, education, or holistic development of children.
Reason 4.
Alphabet Learning
A to Z yoga cards provide a unique and interactive way for kids to learn the alphabet. Associating each letter with a corresponding yoga pose makes learning fun and enhances memory retention.
Reason 5.
Educational Play
The A to Z cards turn the practice of yoga into an educational game, offering a playful approach to learning and physical activity. Kids can enjoy the benefits of yoga while simultaneously reinforcing their knowledge of the alphabet.
Reason 8.
Holistic Development
Each pose represents a letter of the alphabet, fostering not only physical development but also cognitive and linguistic skills. The cards encourage a holistic approach to a child’s overall development.
Reason 9.
Creativity and Imagination
Associating yoga poses with letters sparks creativity and imagination. Kids can envision themselves as archers, birds, or even riding a bike, making the yoga practice a whimsical and imaginative experience.
Reason 10.
Structured Learning
The alphabetical order of the poses offers a structured and organized way to approach the yoga practice. This structure can be beneficial for children who thrive on routine and order.
Reason 11.
Introduction to Yoga Vocabulary
A to Z yoga cards introduce children to the vocabulary associated with yoga early on, familiarising them with terms like “Down Dog” or “Mountain Pose” in a playful context.
Reason 12.
Sequential Movement Learning
Going through the alphabet sequentially (Archer to Zero pose) helps children develop sequential movement skills. This can have positive implications for activities that require step-by-step coordination.
Reason 13.
Self-Expression
Each letter and pose combination allows kids to express themselves physically and creatively, encouraging self-expression and body awareness in a supportive and non-competitive environment.
Reason 14.
Printable & Portable
