A note from George

Hello, I’m George. Let’s give your pencil a useful yoga job.

I’m a British Wheel of Yoga teacher and creator of the Online Yoga Lesson Planner. My lesson-planner drawings are deliberately simple: a blue body, a round head and a few black lines. You don’t need to draw every toe to remember which pose you meant.

Draw Yoga Stick Figures: Downward Dog is a 16-page printable workbook that teaches you to draw Downward Facing Dog and eight variations using ordinary paper and a pen or pencil. It’s the first workbook in my Draw Yoga Stick Figures series. No tablet. No art-school entrance exam. No need to apologise to your pencil.

We begin with a floor line and three red dots. You build the figure in simple stages, practise with fewer guides, then change a few lines to draw a variation. Finally, you make a six-drawing reference sheet of your own. You finish with something useful, rather than a download you vaguely intend to open.

For yoga teachers, it’s a way to add quick pose reminders to handwritten class plans and capture a variation beside your teaching notes. For trainees, it gives you a practical drawing exercise to use alongside your studies, so your notes can show the pose as well as name it. For yoga students, it’s a creative way to make a personal yoga notebook and record familiar pose shapes.

Here, you learn to draw your own yoga stick figures. Start with one Dog, have a few goes, and keep the version you like best. Recognisable is the goal. Perfectly straight lines have not been invited.

The task is drawing, not performing the poses. This workbook does not teach safe yoga practice or qualify you to teach yoga. You can do the whole drawing lesson sitting comfortably at a table.

A few sensible questions

Before your pencil gets started.

Who is this for?

Yoga teachers, trainees and practitioners who want to draw simple yoga stick figures on paper, including people who believe they can’t draw.

Is it a physical workbook?

No. You receive one downloadable PDF after payment. Nothing is posted.

Do I need special equipment or drawing experience?

No. Paper and an ordinary pen or pencil are enough. Add blue to the torso if you like.

Are videos or planner membership included?

No. This is a self-contained printable workbook.

Can I print the practice pages again?

Yes, for your own use. Please do not redistribute the workbook.

Does this teach me to practise or teach yoga?

No. It teaches drawing yoga stick figures, not safe yoga practice or teaching.

Give your pencil a small project.

Draw the base pose, explore eight variations and finish something you made yourself.
