Why the “Less Is More” Philosophy When Creating Yoga Lesson Plans Will Help Students Go Deeper Into Poses, And Make You A Better Yoga Teacher

In this post, you’ll discover why most yoga teachers feel a compelling urge to cram their yoga lesson plans with too many poses.

Before you choose to go down the “cramming route”, I highly recommend you swallow an imaginary chill pill when creating your next lesson plan

You’ve probably heard the saying: less is more. That philosophy is also true when creating your lesson plans.

Less is More!

Repeat that a few times.

Less is More.

Less is More.

Less is More.

Less is More.

Mmmmm, feels good doesn’t it.

You probably feel a bit lighter, right?

So, here’s how to apply the less is more philosophy to your yoga lesson planning

Less Is More: Repeat The Same Asana 2, 3 or 4 Times During The Class

Here’s how to apply the less is more philosophy to your yoga lesson planning. Repeat the same asana two, three, or four times during a class.

Why?

Here are several good reasons to repeat the same asana…

Six Reasons To Repeat Asanas 2, 3 or 4 Times:

  1. Helps students become more confident
  2. Repetition is the mother of all skill
  3. Helps students go much deeper into the pose
  4. Gives you a chance to to walk around making adjustments
  5. Slows the class so it almost becomes a meditation
  6. Most students prefer slower classes (in mixed level classes)

It’s time for my conclusion, and why I love using yoga card decks as teaching aids in my classes.
