Most yoga teachers think a business plan is a waste of time.
That’s why most teachers quit teaching within 3 years of attaining their teaching certification! The #1 reason why businesses fail is because they don’t have a business plan. It’ not rocket science. It doesn’t need to be longer than 15 pages.
A business plan will give you clarity, peace of mind and confidence for the future.
A business person without a business plan is like a ship without a rudder. A business plan provides direction for your dreams and goals.
A business plan provides speed…it will get you to your end destination quicker than if you didn’t have one. OK, time for an example. Say you want to have 4 full yoga classes and host 3 yoga holidays a year within the next 12 months. Once you put your goals in writing (in your business plan), the odds of you acheiving those goals sky rocket.
In 1979, interviewers asked new graduates from the Harvard’s MBA Program and found that:
- 84% had no specific goals at all
- 13% had goals but they were not committed to paper
- 3% had written goals and plans to accomplish them
In 1989, the interviewers again interviewed the graduates of that class.
You can guess the results…
The 13% of the class who had goals were earning, on average, twice as much as the 84 percent who had no goals at all. Even more staggering – the three percent who had clear, written goals were earning, on average, ten times as much as the other 97 percent put together.
